I have ten stories on the ElevenReader app, for about eight hours of listening pleasure. If you want an idea of what you’re getting into if you dive into these tales, I’ve got a little guide for you. Maybe you want a longer story, with a little plot? Or something medium length, heavy on characters and action? Or some snack size stories to listen to while you do some chores around the house?
Cornelia, as always, has got you covered!
Longish listen: The Wasconaway Wildcats series
For a longer story — a total of just over three hours — check out the Wasconaway Wildcats series, featuring Cassie Snow, the sexiest batting coach in the Mudskippers League. Cassie’s minor league team is preparing to face the Zenith Zephyrs in a big exhibition game, and their young star batter, Charlie Maple, has a bad case of the yips. With the help of her lover Zane, a veteran big leaguer looking for the quiet zen of a low-stress club, Cassie applies some unorthodox coaching.
The story starts with Cassie Clears the Bases, which introduces the characters in a series of fun shower scenes; continues with Pitchers and Catchers Report, in which Cassie tries her hand at coaching the battery through an interpersonal conflict; and concludes at the big game (and big post-game celebration) in Designated Hitter.
These novellas are about an hour long each, and have a third person narrator. “Sarah” and “Charlotte” make good voices for these if you want a female narrator, “Brian” or “George” is you’re looking for a male voice. Though, of course, you can easily choose your own – that’s one of the fun things about ElevenReader!
Longish: Fun for Four
Still have a hankering for a meatier story? You might enjoy the Fun for Four series, currently consisting of Throuple and Katie’s Christmas Cracker. This is the story of Dave, Katie, Jim, and Susie, a polycule that forms around Katie’s insatiable needs. The first novella sets up the characters and situation, and the second is a little bit of a quest tale, with Jim and Susie searching for the perfect Christmas gift for Katie.
These stories are told by the character Jim, so a voice like “Liam” is a good option.
Snack size fun: The “Center of Attention” and “Too Hot to Sleep” collections
Not quite ready to make a commitment? I hear you! And you should hear these collections of bite size spicy treats. Each audiobook contains three standalone stories (though all of them take place in the extended Corneliaverse, so you may recognize places and characters), all of about 10 minutes in length. The four “Too Hot to Sleep” collections (Volume 1, Volume 2, Volume 3, Volume 4) feature stories about it being (you guessed it!) too hot to sleep, though the settings are very different, featuring a Spanish train, a ski cabin, and an anchored yacht, among other locations. The three stories in “The Center of Attention” are similar to the “Shagged,” “Mashed,” and “Crossing Swords” stories, but a little shorter. I’m especially fond of “Reposado Gold,” in which three cowboys are taken for a glorious ride after a wild night of dancing and fighting.
These all have first person female narrators except “The Yellow Sundress” and “The Pool Party” from volume 4, which have a first person male narrator. Of course, you can choose to have any voice you wish read these stories to you; they’ll be super spicy any way you go!
