Top of the charts, January 17 – 24

Here are my books that are getting the most attention – buys and reads – for the last week, just in case you wanted to hop on the bandwagon and see what other Cornelia Quick readers are enjoying. I like to see people taking advantage of sales and promotions — there’s still time to grab Touchdown! and PURSUED for 99 cents each!

#5: Use Me at the Fair

Dorothy’s big day at the fair is about to get extra spicy …

Dorothy’s first summer in Milhawket is coming to an end, and she feels a little melancholy. She’s had so many adventures with her many lovers — Lee, Deacon, Frank, Jeff, and Conor, to name just a few, under the watchful eye of her husband Calvin — and the coming autumn weather makes her feel that a wonderful chapter is about to come to a close.

“But what about the county fair?” Lee asks, invoking the traditional celebration that sends summer off with a bang.

Yes, what about the fair, indeed? Lee has some ideas for making the fair extra fun for Dorothy, and with the return of her favorite Milhawket lovers and the introduction of some new playmates as well, this will be a festival to remember!

#2: Dido Reclaimed

Dido Cook wants it all, and more …

Dido knew going in that “Camp Oneidewish Nights” wasn’t going to be an Oscars contender – it was just a way to fill her summer between seasons of “Amy and Lisa Rule the World”, and maybe give her career a little boost for the next Oscar-worthy role. And there wouldn’t be paparazzi at isolated Lake Makanogin trying to see if she had developed a long-sought-after baby bump.

What she didn’t plan for was Max Andersen, her sexy co-star from “Pink Slip Blues,” and the enticing peppermint lattes he magically produced in the wilderness every morning. And she didn’t plan for the way the call of the loons across the lake and the glitter of the stars above the water would awaken passions in her that her husband Reggie had never kindled.

#4: Touchdown!

Something strange happened the night Callie and Luca tried on the nurse’s uniform they found in the hidden closet full of costumes in their new home in Milhawket. The fun bedroom roleplaying they expected took a turn toward the mysterious when they shared an intense and utterly realistic dream in which Callie was a nurse at Tender Mercy Hospital and Luca her patient.

Now Luca wants to try the cheerleader costume he’s pulled from the closet, but Callie has her doubts. The ladies at the BookSwap in town have dropped some hints about a strange connection between Mariane Gundersen, the author of some spicy Gothic paperbacks Callie picked up there, and the old Victorian house on the hill that Callie and Luca occupy now. Is there more to the costume closet than just the promise of shaking up their love life?

#3: PURSUED

Things are getting spooky in Callie’s Costume Closet …

Callie’s head is still spinning, and not just from the sexy romp she and her husband Luca had when they put the cheerleader costume they found in the mysterious closet to use in their bedroom. Something strange happens every time they play with the costumes — it’s as if they’re transported into a new world where their fantasies become reality and their sexiest dreams come true.

Puzzled, intrigued, and a little frightened, Callie goes in search of clues. She finds little hints in the attic, at the BookSwap in town, and in the turret room she’s been transforming into her reading nest. And she also finds a velvet cloak and linen gown that look suspiciously similar to the outfit on the cover of the Gothic paperback she’s currently reading.

#1: The Night of the Storm

Three couples, two cabins, one stormy night, and a lot of passion …

Darcy and Joe are taking a huge step in their marriage, meeting with Frank, Darcy’s frequent lover, and his wife Sue, at Lake Makanogin. Both couples have been anticipating this weekend for months, anxious and excited for what it might mean for them.

A storm spins up while Darcy is across the lake making first contact with Frank and Sue; the same storm that blows Emily and Caleb off the course of their own adventure and to the shelter offered by Joe at the little cabin on the lake.

The three couples explore new geometries of passion as the storm rages outside.
